L&D Wedding

Illustration | Layout | Print

They curated a colourful, tropical, animal-themed wedding. Both their lives go around all kind of animals, therefore this aesthetic was a great representation of them.

With their wishes in mind I tailored a series of illustrations (digital watercolour) to create their invitations, table centrepieces, stikers, and also packaging for sparklers, Happy Tears tissues and also lollipops for the guests to use.

Invitations

The briefing included instructions such as having purple + green as the main colours of the palette, while also having details of other colours that made it warm, tropical and playful. Still, they wanted to keep it visually clean, even if the main theme was rainforest, animals and tropical plants everywhere.

Red and blue macaws, orchid praying mantis, bird of paradise flowers and purple orchids had a special meaning for the bride and groom, so they needed to have a main role.

Table centrepieces

They decided to name every table with a different animal, so as a guest, instead of looking for your table with a number, you'd look for your animal. Together with the name of the animal they asked for a painting in the same digital watercolour style I used for the invitations.

The first step is selecting all the perfect photos for each animal to use as a reference while painting. This is a collaborative process where the bride and groom ask for details that are important for them (such as the pose of the animal, the attitude, and so on) and from my side I contributed with other details to keep in mind for the best composition of each painting and the cohesion of the whole collection.

The whale and the butterfly were the two most special for them, as the first was for the sweetheart table and the second was for a special spot they prepared with photographies and memories.

Stikers

They needed custom stikers to keep closed the lid of some little paper boxes filled with sweets to give the guests as a little present.

The briefing in this case consisted on mixing some geometric shape with the tropical vibes, so I used the square as a reference to the invitations, and kept it as minimal as posible given the small space available. My priority was being sure that the texts where readable so I built the design on top of that first step.

Happy Tears tissues

This is a cute little envelope for paper tissues meant to be used only for tears of joy.

The illustration is very much in the same line as the stikers: minimal due to the reduced space available, a touch of tropical vibes, the geometric shapes the couple wanted to have and the text very readable.

It was a DIY project for the bride and groom so I only prepared the print files with subtle indications for them to know where to cut and where to fold.

Lollipop cover

They added a lollipop for each guest as part of the presents, and they asked me to design a cover to glow up a bit the look of it.

They also wanted it to be a DIY project for them so I applied the same kind of illustrations I used on the stikers and Happy tears tissues, each of them unique, and prepared a print file where they could cut, fold, and die-cut the holes for the ribbon by themselves.

Decorative cards for sparklers

This is a cute way to decorate and customize the sparklers meant to be lit during the first dance of bride and groom.

They made the die-cut themselves as well, and the design also follows the aesthetic of the rest of prints, just creating unique compositions.
